چکیده

H ypertension is a heterogeneous disorder with a number of welldefined as well as putative etiologies. The World Health Organization estimates that hypertension may cause 7.1 million premature deaths and 4.5% of the disease burden worldwide. Hypertension is a major risk factor for stroke and cardiovascular diseases, and is thus associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Hypertensive heart disease is a complex entity that involves changes to the cardiovascular system resulting from arterial hypertension; it is therefore the major cause of hypertension-related complications. The development of Doppler echocardiography has offered new approaches regarding both insights into pathophysiology and clinical implications that affect hypertensive patients. For these reasons, it is obvious that echocardiographic assessment is very important in the clinical management of a hypertensive patient. We aimed at reviewing “old” and newer data regarding the contributions of echocardiography to the evaluation of a hypertensive patient.

Follow up the Treatment Process of Mitral Valve Diseases by Radiography and Echocardiography in Dogs

Background: Mitral valve disease is the most common acquired heart disease in dogs. Mitral valve regurgitation (MR) due to endocardiosis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in dog. Echocardiography as a non-invasive tool is routinely used to evaluate and diagnose different disorders in the heart. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of medical treatmen...

Evaluation of vascular effects of aqueous Crocus sativus petals’ extract in the hypertensive rats

Background and Aim: Crocus sativus (C. sativus) petals attenuates smooth muscle tension and blood pressure in control animals. However the antihypertensive effect and its mechanisms haven’t been recognized. This study investigates the antihypertensive effects of C. sativus petals’ aqueous extract in hypertensive rats and also responses of the rat isolated perfused mesenteric bed. Materials and...

Search for non-invasive load-independent indices of left ventricular relaxation.

Echocardiography is an invaluable tool for the routine evaluation of patients with congestive heart failure. A number of Doppler modalities are now available. In this comment, the haemodynamic determinants and the clinical application of the more recent indices of left ventricular relaxation, namely tissue Doppler imaging of the mitral annulus and the flow propagation velocity by colour M-mode,...
